Wish I'd discovered these five months ago.
(Actually with my anatomy I could use them anytime!)
The doctor says the baby has dropped low (which explains the waddling). Sometimes when I'm asleep the baby puts pressure on my sciatic nerve and I wake up in a lot of pain--the only relief is to walk the house til it goes away. I've never had that with my other pregnancies.
I actually thought I might have the baby on Saturday. I woke up with contractions from 1:00 to 3:00 am--they were irregular but some of them were painful--not like the braxton hicks I have all the time. I was convinced enough that it was the real thing that I cleaned up the house in between timing contractions in case someone had to come sleep here. But the contractions eventually stopped--which was a good thing. Tyler still has one business trip he needs to go on before the baby comes. (Yikes!) It did scare me enough that I finally started pulling out and washing the baby gear.
Some friends took me out for sliders and sweet potato fries in honor of the baby the other night. Sharla made me this darling Oreo bouquet:
Kaari gave me a cute glass cloche (and more Oreos) and Kristine made me a giant Oreo cake.
They also gave me giftcards to McDonalds and 7-11. Now those are baby gifts!
I am really excited to see this little guy. I am also really excited to start drinking more Diet Coke. My friend Carly gave me a fantasticly huge 7-11 mug for my birthday. It looks about this size:
64 ounces I think.
I can't wait to start lugging that thing around as my second baby.
The final hurdle is deciding on a name. After three boys Tyler and I are really just out of boy names we both like. We have a few in mind but I don't know that I really love any of them. So throw me a bone and give me some of your favorite boy names! If I end up using your name and it wasn't on my list already I'll mail you five dollars. Remember this name will be for a skinny red-haired guy, so nothing too tough or too nerdy.

Oh Ash, I just really don't like that last bit of pregnancy. I was reading my journal from the last few days with Lucy and man I was a mean/bitter lady. You're almost there. I love your gifts, perfect. Name your boy Johnny or Ralph. Yep, that's the best I can come up with. Night!
Have you ever thought of the name Bradley, I would go with that name. Please no need to send me five dollars, you'll need it for the post diet-coke.
Oooh, this is so exciting!!! I am sorry about your sciatica though. That is so uncomfortable and painful, too.
Thinking of names is hard. Chuche and I came up with a ton of unique names for Mita (no weird spellings, mind you, just less common), and then we named Mita one of the most traditional, classic, popular names in the book.
Good luck, Ashley!
My fave boys names are Joel, Crew, William and Toby. You will have to do the yelling test abd see if it rolls of the tongue "Max, Charlie,Bennett and 'insert name' Come inside for tea".
Henry
Tate
Oscar
George (not kidding, people think I am kidding, but I do love it)
Gray
Milo
Simon
:-)
p.s. you can't even tell you're pregnant in that cake picture! you look tiny everywhere else (no fair)
Sara we have very similar taste in names--I love George too. Tyler will have none of it!
Harrison "Harry"
Henry
I'm Mark Cannon's wife. I blog stalk. Your boys are adorable!! I think I've commented before mentioning that I have 4 boys. We just moved to Cali a few months ago and I get so many comments about my kids. Today we were at Disneyland and an older couple in line were chatting with me. The husband said "you have your hands full". I told the wife that what he said was my biggest annoyance. I HATE IT! I told her I wanted to think of a good comeback when people said it to me, but I never knew the right thing to say. She had great advice. She said that I should reply with "at least they aren't empty"! So true. I love my boys and can't imagine my life without them. Good luck on the delivery! Hope he waits until Tyler comes home from business.

I love it that your friends are showering you in Oreos and future Diet Coke!!
I'm with Sara--I love all of those names. And Alexandra Cannon has done well for herself. Maybe you can start exchanging family names.
Look, since I can tell you're in a bind, I'll give you the name I love and you can steal it, with the caveat that there might be a little Theodore Peterson running around one day. If you don't love "Theodore" then you'll need to read Edmund Morris's three part biography of Roosevelt.
I think boys names are super hard. Way more pressure and less selection than girls. David and I are already out of boys names! Hang in there girlfriend. Those last few days are almost over.
Chase and Tate are a couple of my faves.
Love the Oreo Cake!
Good luck on your delivery.
One of my babies kept giving me contractions on/off in the end. I would get ready to go to the hospital, then my contractions would fizzle out. It turns out the dr. just needed to break my water. Which I was scared to have him do, but all went just fine.
i love the name Isaac :)
So sorry about your sciatica. That's no fun, especially when it's hard to sleep with a huge belly anyway. I'm so glad you got your oreos and diet coke stuff all worked out for later. Ugh, baby names are so hard.
I like George and Isaac too, I also like the sound of Matthew or William Carter. That's m input.
I am bias b/c I have an Owen, but I love that name. I also have a Hayden, but he's 11 and now people are naming their daughters Hayden (for shame). I also have a Noah but he's kind of mean. So if you use that name just use it knowing that he'll start out nice, but around 4 will turn on you. I love Jonah, Ezra, and most of Sara's names. Except Tate. That's a little too pansy for me. Good luck. Thankfully for us #4 was a girl b/c we were all out of boy names.
2 of my favorites are Dylan and Luke. All 3 of my boys were nearly named Luke. :) Good luck with the delivery! I feel your pain on the sciatica though. Ugh. You're almost there!
I'm so excited for you to get that baby! And I'm glad your friends are taking good care of you with the oreos and dc. I'd also add a bag of fruit loops! :)You don't even look prego and you're so cute in that pink shirt. Can't wait for the updates--take care of yourself!!!
You look gorgeous!!! I'm so glad your friends are taking care of you! xoxo
I think Matthew is a great name - You know that it already belongs to a tall thin redhead with attitude that you used to tend a very long time ago.
Perfect fit with 3 other boys.
Good luck. xoxo
I gotta get in on this- false labor is the pits. Expect to have more of those middle of the night sessions. It helped me to sleep on the couch.
As for boys names- they are so hard! Grant's middle name is Zander. Some people spell it Xander but I love it either way. I kind of like Russell- pretty random but it's a family name so I guess it's grown on me. I've always liked Joel, too. Good luck- I will not be offended if he is not named Zander Russel Carter.
I am jealous of all your oreos and that huge mug. Not jealous of the waddling and sciatica issue.
You know i love George and Henry and Nate and Smith. And William too. I still love Drew and you could tell Mike you named the kid after him. Alex is cute too..think Karev...anyway..you will pick the right name.
Hope you get some sleep!
Ashley-my new (and 1st) grandbaby is Owen. It took me awhile to like it, but it's grown on me. Since I've taught for almost 100 years the only name NOT to use is Jason. Every Jason I've taught has been naughty!! (No offense to any Jasons you know...) How about Valentino since it's so close to Valentine's Day. Or Abraham, or George. (I know, I think I'm funnier than I really am-just ask my girls) Good luck-I love red headed babies!
1. You're not waddling (much). 2. I always have Oreos in stock @ my house in case you run out, I'll bring them over. 3. I'm sorry you're miserable. You are almost there! 4. If you go into labor in the middle of the night, or day, call me. I'm more than happy to come hang @ the Carter Casa whilst you go and welcome Henry into the world. 5. Not Henry? What about Walter? Luke? William? Those are my favs. Henry's my most favorite. 6. I'll take the $5 and buy you 2 bags of Oreos with it.

Loved the monkey party- great job! Names are hard and my brain does not work after 9pm so I'm sorry I have no suggestions for you but I can't wait to see pictures of your new baby soon!!!!!
You have a way with words and stock photos. Love the soft britches, and the belly-ups. That is so funny.
You do not look very big to me. I am sure you are uncomfortable, but you look really skinny. It always comes as a shock to read all this funniness and then see a photo of a gorgeous, pregnant in the belly only, woman.
Names. I was leaning towards Charlie for my own until she turned out to be Claire. But other names I love include Henry, as mentioned, Jude (this is riskier), and Christian. Christian has a cool factor to it, in my opinion. It isn't popular but it isn't weird. George is really cute, but I can see where Tyler's refusal comes from. Obviously I love William and Andrew. I think anyone can pull off those names. I also like Josh quite a lot. And Grant. Those were off our list because they were taken on Brigham's side. And at the risk of revealing my George Forman baby naming tendencies (he named all his kids George), I think Alexander is a great name. Only shame kept me from plastering any one of my boys with that one (its Will's middle).
I am excited to read all about this little guy!
I am so glad you are almost done. It's the worst to be 37+ weeks and waddling. No fun. Get that baby outta here so we can see him and his red hair! I love the names Owen, Grayson, Bryce, .. Zachary and Wesley are my favorite boy names. =o)
I love that you have good friends around you who shower you with oreos and diet coke. That's awesome. Good luck with everything!
Name him Oreo. I double dog dare you. ;)
Davis goes well with Bennett:) some second tier names
Roman
Jenner
Nicholas
And Dane
